Well, it is 27 degrees outside today. After reading my friend's blog (who lives in Alaska) and her comment about the warm spell they had last week of 19 degrees, I have a new appreciation for the Detroit winter. Last week, we were all sick and on Tamiflu (except for Jonas). Feeling much better now. I stayed home the whole week and now that I am better, and can go outside, I see that the weather dropped 15 degrees. Bye bye 40's hello 20's. Jonas is asserting more and more independence everyday and I am not quite sure how to handle it. He wants to do the dishes all the time (even when there are none to do), climb up on the coffee table and dining room tables, read "choo choo" book all day, and get into everything he knows he shouldn't. The latest struggle is getting him to sit in his high chair and eat rather than stand up and sit on the tray. We got our first Christmas tree (fake but nonetheless pre-lit and perfect) and decorated it last night. I feel pretty good about my yard sale ornaments that I got a few months ago, figuring we'd have a tree in our lifetime, eventually. And now that we actually live in a space big enough for a tree - wha-la! It is really cool! I took Jonas to Value World yesterday since we have NO toys for him. He got a play vaccuum, and seasame street train. I got a wreath for the door...all for a total of 5 dollars! Love thrift stores. Okay, enough bragging about my good deals. This was an entry to post whatever was on my mind (since I rarely know what to say on these blogs). If no one reads it...at least I will know what was on my mind on December 8, 2009!
Oh, and I want to list all the words I can think of in Jonas's vocabulary:

I can't believe he's talking that much! Well, I can believe it but I guess I just haven't seen it so it seems so crazy!!! 95 is pretty good!! And I LOVE thrift stores for toys--that's where 95% of Harrison's have come from...why spend 10 dollars when you can spend 1??? or better yet 50 cents??? I love your blog updates--we miss you guys!! Call me if you ever want to catch up!!
I don't know I hear Detroit winters are pretty rough. Alaskans think they are tough but really it's a "dry" cold;) Thrift stores ROCK! How Dorky is this, I like to come home and look online at how much the toys would cost originally and calculate my savings!(insert evil cackle). Jonas is getting so big and articulate. Is he in nursery yet? Kimball and I are doing the out in the halls walk during church because we are waiting for nursery to get here. It's the hardest from 1 yr to nursery at church. I think I get more out of the talks I listen to during his naps. So, hopefully I am getting what I am supposed to be getting.
That is a great list! I think I'm going to head to a thrift store today. I love it when I find deals, I just sometimes hate the looking part.
seven more words and Jonas's vocabulary passes mine.
so fun to see what you're up to :) Your little guy looks so adorable, love the shot of him lounging in his high chair! take care, Happy Holidays! Maria
