Addendum

You don't have to read this. I just wanted to add the words I forgot to put the other day that are a part of Jonas's extensive vocabulary.

Scriptures, pray, teddy, um, lights, bus, pretzel

Latest Happenings

Well, it is 27 degrees outside today. After reading my friend's blog (who lives in Alaska) and her comment about the warm spell they had last week of 19 degrees, I have a new appreciation for the Detroit winter. Last week, we were all sick and on Tamiflu (except for Jonas). Feeling much better now. I stayed home the whole week and now that I am better, and can go outside, I see that the weather dropped 15 degrees. Bye bye 40's hello 20's. Jonas is asserting more and more independence everyday and I am not quite sure how to handle it. He wants to do the dishes all the time (even when there are none to do), climb up on the coffee table and dining room tables, read "choo choo" book all day, and get into everything he knows he shouldn't. The latest struggle is getting him to sit in his high chair and eat rather than stand up and sit on the tray. We got our first Christmas tree (fake but nonetheless pre-lit and perfect) and decorated it last night. I feel pretty good about my yard sale ornaments that I got a few months ago, figuring we'd have a tree in our lifetime, eventually. And now that we actually live in a space big enough for a tree - wha-la! It is really cool! I took Jonas to Value World yesterday since we have NO toys for him. He got a play vaccuum, and seasame street train. I got a wreath for the door...all for a total of 5 dollars! Love thrift stores. Okay, enough bragging about my good deals. This was an entry to post whatever was on my mind (since I rarely know what to say on these blogs). If no one reads it...at least I will know what was on my mind on December 8, 2009!

Oh, and I want to list all the words I can think of in Jonas's vocabulary:
1.Mama
2.Dada
3.Andrew

Glimpses os the Michigan Fall

Just us.

Jonas walking to the library. I couldn't help taking a picture here.
Lying on the grass in my back yard...looking up. We have this great Oak tree that gives cool shade in the summer and orange leaves in the fall. One of my favorite things to do at home. Sit under this tree...
Trick or Treat! Dad and Jonas wading through the leaves for more candy. Two men on a mission!

Fall 2009

We went to Ohio last month to see where Todd lived during high school. We spent some time at the park where Jonas made a friend. This is one social kid. I thought this was a cute picture.

Oh, if only I could use the bathroom without him getting into the toilet paper! I will probably just get him cheap toilet paper for Christmas...he'd love it.
Grandma Cox came to visit in September. We had a great time. We tried to get some cute pictures of Jonas at The Village. She tried from one angle and I from the other. Ready set shoot! This is the best we could do.
We live here...

Resurrecting the Blog...

Well, I have decided to repent of my lazy blogging habits. And if for nothing else, I will try to start blogging again for family history purposes....if that makes sense. I always thought that I didn't blog much before because work took up all my time. Then I quit work, moved to Michigan, and three months later I am FINALLY updating this blog. Since the most interesting things about blogs are the pictures. I will post a few of what has been going on since last January when I posted my last blog.

Todd graduated on June 5th! What a great day! We had a fun party afterwards with his friends and family

Five days after he graduated, he left with the moving van, corolla, and my dad to make the trek out east to Michigan. Meanwhile I stayed behind a few days and then flew back with Jonas. And we celebrated his 1st birthday with all his many girlfriends. He loved the cake the best that my friend Michelle Tarwarter made for him. He dove right into it. And with the sugar high...he stayed up until 11 pm hyper and excited as ever.

Just hangin in his high chair.

Mom Jeans

So my sister and I sometimes joke about how we'll need to start wearing "mom jeans" since we had kids. There is that pooch that just wasn't really there before and does noe seem to be going anywhere very fast - you know that deflated balloon pooch. Well, the other day it all became painfully obvious how this isn't really a joke - I really am in need of some "mom jeans".

The story all starts with my most favorite jeans in the picture below:

I have finally come to the point where I need to retire  these - my most favorite jeans. They have holes in both legs and on the back and the pockets. I have worn them for the last four years and lOVED them. They are so soft from all the wear..and they fit just right. So, I decided to just go back to the same store and get the same jeans again. SO I am in this store dressing room looking in the mirror at the jeans that I tried on and decide that they'll do - until the sales clerk asks, "So how do you like them?". I reply that they are fine and ask her what she thinks. She says, "I think they look good. Have you tried the 'boyfriend's favorite' style?"

-"No, what is the difference between those and these type of jeans?" I ask

-"Oh, you know, they are mostly the same, they just don't flare as much on the legs and come up a little higher on the waist...you know, just a little more mom jeansish" said the clerk.

Now, let me add the detail that I happened to be wearing NO wedding ring and did not have a trace of Jonas with me! It makes her reply even more painfully honest!

IT IS OFFICIAL - I have entered the phase of life where I have to wear MOM JEANS...because I am "not just a woman -  I'm a Mom"!!

I will post a picture of my old jean - how I miss them....

Changes with 2009

So I think 2009 will be the year of changes. To welcome in the change...I got a haircut. To be honest, it's way shorter than I expected. I was shocked - at first. You know the initial shock at the salon when the hairstylist asks you if you like it and you hurry out a "Yea it's great!" and inside think (just get out of here before I start crying)! I rush out to my car and and can't hold back the laughs! I laugh because I can't cry. This is so funny to me! Why? I think I laugh, honestly because I can't wait to see my husband's reaction. He would love for me to return from the salon with with thick, long, shiny, dark brown hair - a miracle that won't ever happen until the next life. So, I hurry home rush in the house and say with a wry smile, "Do you like it?"

...the look of shock on his face was priceless. My response....more laughing. His response, "You're gonna get your money back right? You didn't actually pay for that?"
my response...more laughing. I laughed and laughed.

If I get this much satisfaction from horrifying my hubby - what will I do next. My humor is so sick.

P.S. The picture below is 2-3 weeks post haircut. And for the record - I really like it.
